On the summer solstice, we joined the streets of Seattle’s iconic Solstice Parade with an Indigenous-led procession for immigration justice. We walked, drummed, rattled, and danced in prayerful resistance—lifting up the truth that migration is sacred and that undocumented relatives are not alone.

Our float featured a sacred tree adorned with over 100 hand-crafted monarch butterflies, honoring the beauty—and fragility—of migration. Soaring beside the tree were the Eagle, the Condor, and the Quetzal, powerful symbols of the North, Central, and South Americas. Together, they represented a prayer for unity across borders and continents
This offering was a collective act of love, ceremony, and defiance. The monarchs carried a message: as climate collapse intensifies and milkweed disappears, their ancient migratory journey becomes harder to complete. Their struggle is not unlike that of our human relatives fleeing violence, poverty, and climate devastation. We showed up to honor their sacred paths and to call for a world that respects all beings—winged and walking alike. In the spirit of resistance and reverence, we danced our stories into the streets, making it known: we are still here, and we are still rising—together.
